We shall remember them

Date: 14th Nov 2021 Author: Nigel Harris

Remembrance Sunday is one of two annual dates on which our Beavers, Cubs, Scouts and Explorers all parade together, in full uniform, with flags on show.  (The other is St George’s Day.)

Here are the flag bearers from all the Weston Green uniformed groups, lined up ready to process with the flags into All Saints church.  As well as our Scouts, Cubs and Beavers, there are representatives of Weston Green’s Guides, Brownies and Rainbows here.

After the church service, the flags were paraded to the memorial garden, where more uniformed Scouts, Cubs, Beavers and Explorers joined the congregation to observe a two minute silence and lay wreaths to honour and remember those Weston Green residents who were killed in the world wars.

HM King Charles III has been confirmed as our new Patron, a great honour for UK Scouts.

The King continues a long tradition of the monarch giving their Patronage, dating back to 1912. This was when Scouts was granted its Royal Charter and HM George V became our first Patron.
