To tell us about a young person who wishes to join the group, and add their name to our waiting list, please click here

We are limited in the number of Beavers, Cubs and Scouts we can accommodate at any time, so operate a waiting list.  If you have young children who may wish to join the group as Beavers at age 6, we’d recommend you add them to our waiting list now and we will contact you when they reach the right age and a space comes available.  It may also be possible for young people between 8 and 18 years old to join directly into the Cubs, Scouts or Explorers section.

Places will usually be offered in the order that names were originally added to the waiting list (first come, first served).  However, we can short-cut this process if the young person has a parent or other adult who volunteers to join and help the group to a significant extent.  Take a look at our fast track scheme for more information on how you could help the group and “jump the queue”.

If a young person is already invested into the scouting movement, and moves into the area, we will offer them a place in the relevant section as soon as we can, ahead of anyone on the waiting list.

For information about subscription fees and other costs of joining the group, see our subscriptions and fees page.

HM King Charles III has been confirmed as our new Patron, a great honour for UK Scouts.

The King continues a long tradition of the monarch giving their Patronage, dating back to 1912. This was when Scouts was granted its Royal Charter and HM George V became our first Patron.
