Surprise gift for Wilber

Date: 28th Jun 2021 Author: Nigel Harris

Our Beaver section leader, Nicola, will be stepping down at the end of this term, after twelve years in the role.  Known to a decade of Beavers as Wilber, she was the leader who gave almost all our young members, from the current Beavers to the Explorer Scouts, their introduction to scouting.

This evening, the Beaver section enjoyed a family boat trip on the Thames.  At the end of the trip, the Beavers presented Wilber with a leaving gift – something they’d managed to keep quiet, so it came as a genuine surprise.

HM King Charles III has been confirmed as our new Patron, a great honour for UK Scouts.

The King continues a long tradition of the monarch giving their Patronage, dating back to 1912. This was when Scouts was granted its Royal Charter and HM George V became our first Patron.
