St George’s Day Parade

Date: 24th Apr 2022 Author: Nigel Harris

It was good to see a strong turnout from all our sections for the annual Saint George’s Day parade and church service in East Molesey.  St George’s Day is an important event in the scouting calendar, the day on which all members of scouting, from age 6 to 60+, reflect on and reaffirm their scouting promise.  Our Beavers, Cubs, Scouts and Explorers and their adult volunteer leaders were all smartly turned out, and each section’s flag was proudly paraded through East Molesey.  1st Weston Green was also selected for the honour of carrying the Union Flag for the entire parade, which includes scout groups from throughout the local  district.

HM King Charles III has been confirmed as our new Patron, a great honour for UK Scouts.

The King continues a long tradition of the monarch giving their Patronage, dating back to 1912. This was when Scouts was granted its Royal Charter and HM George V became our first Patron.
