Scouts go Golfing in the Rain

Date: 12th Jul 2021 Author: Nigel Harris

For the final section meeting of the year, the scouts went to play mini-golf at Sandown Park.  Despite the relentless weather, a good time was had by all.  Even the offer of free chocolates wasn’t enough to bring the whole troop out.  But ten scouts,  true to their “be prepared” motto, were well-prepared enough to brave the rain.  At least they had the course to themselves!

This brings an end to a successful term of face-to-face meetings, albeit one that has seemed plagued by bad weather.  The scouts have enjoyed a wet hike, a wet bike ride, bicycle maintenance in the rain and now wet golf.  All good practice for wet camping trips!

HM King Charles III has been confirmed as our new Patron, a great honour for UK Scouts.

The King continues a long tradition of the monarch giving their Patronage, dating back to 1912. This was when Scouts was granted its Royal Charter and HM George V became our first Patron.
