Leaders Awarded at AGM
Our annual general meeting was held virtually on 23rd June. Andrew Burns, one of the team of commissioners for Esher District Scouts, spoke at the meeting and presented awards to several of our leaders and supporters.
- Rob Cannell, our Group Scout Leader (GSL) was awarded a Chief Scout’s Commendation for Good Service, a recognition of Rob’s outstanding service and the very real contribution he has made to scouting over the years.
- Nick Fisk, our Scout Leader received his 20-year service award. Everyone agreed that Nick looks far too young to have been a uniformed adult leader for 20 years.
- Mary Redington, who used to be our Beaver Section Leader and still helps out in Beavers, received her 20-year service award. Mary will be stepping down from active participation in the leaders team at the end of this term.
- Rob Williams, one of the team that leads our Scout section, received his 20-year service award.
- Chad Newton, currently serving as our vice-chairman, received his five-year service award.
- Paul Collyer, who leads our Explorer Scouts section, received his Wood Badge, a pair of wooden beads awarded to all leaders who complete the full set of leader training courses.
The AGM is the annual meeting of the whole scout group (leaders, executive, parents and other supporters), at which we review our achievements and finances, and appoint or elect officers and trustees to oversee the charity for the next year. Our current Chair, Vice-Chair, Secretary and Treasurer will continue in their roles for another year. Angela Cody and Clare Wright were elected to the executive committee and will become charity trustees for the group.
