Good to be Back!

Date: 22nd Sep 2021 Author: Nigel Harris

It was great to see our Beavers, Cubs, Scouts and Explorers getting back to scouting this week, at the start of a new term.  We welcomed some new adult volunteers to our teams of uniformed leaders.  A whole clutch of new six-year-old members started out on their scouting journey in the Beaver section and a few older boys and girls joined from outside the group into the Cubs and Scouts sections.

The meticulously planned programmes for the coming weeks include:

  • Knots, pumpkin fun, code breaking and carol singing for the Beavers
  • Bike ride, bat walk, science, gardening, origami, puppetry and indoor climbing for the Cubs
  • Paper engineering, night hikes, fire lighting, survival cooking and gaming for the Scouts
  • Cooking competition, orienteering, day camps, rifle shooting, fireworks and climbing for the Explorers

In addition, all sections will be on parade at All Saints church on Sunday November 14th for Remembrance Sunday.

HM King Charles III has been confirmed as our new Patron, a great honour for UK Scouts.

The King continues a long tradition of the monarch giving their Patronage, dating back to 1912. This was when Scouts was granted its Royal Charter and HM George V became our first Patron.
