Escapade 2023

Date: 26th Jun 2023 Author: Nigel Harris

Escapade is a weekend camp for all sections, with young people from all the scout groups in Esher district.  This year’s camp was the biggest in living memory, with over 1,000 people on site at its peak.

Our Beavers, Cubs and Scouts all took part.  The younger Beavers attended during the day on Saturday, before returning home to their comfy beds.  Most of them lasted right through until the camp fire and fireworks, way after their normal bedtime!  The older Beavers spent Saturday night under canvas, while the Cubs and Scouts were at camp from Friday evening until Sunday lunchtime.

A huge array of activities was laid on, and huge fun was had by all the young people on a very warm weekend. Our leaders did an incredible job of making it all happen and allowing people as young as six to join in all the fun safely.  A merry band of non-leader parent volunteers also helped by doing the food shopping, cooking, and getting tents pitched on Thursday night and camp struck on Sunday.

You can see some photos of things that happened at Escapade in our Escapade 2023 gallery.
