Since our usual weekly meetings became impossible in March, we have adapted by going online. All sections have been running weekly virtual meetings which have proved very popular, and we have seen a high level of attendance. Our uniformed leaders have done a brilliant job of finding ways to allow our Beavers, Cubs and Scouts to continue earning their badges and learning scouting skills.

Unfortunately, the restrictions on our activity have come at a time of year which is our busiest time for outdoor events. We have had to cancel our annual group Family Camp and our annual Summer Camps for Scouts and Explorers. Several events at County and District level that we were looking forward to participating in have also been cancelled or postponed.

We are hoping to arrange a short local camp for all sections in the late summer if restrictions are lifted to allow that. We are also hoping that by the autumn we will be able to resume our normal programme of outdoor activities and go ahead with the Cubs Sixers and Seconders camp in late September and the Scouts Fire and Ice camp in January.

HM King Charles III has been confirmed as our new Patron, a great honour for UK Scouts.

The King continues a long tradition of the monarch giving their Patronage, dating back to 1912. This was when Scouts was granted its Royal Charter and HM George V became our first Patron.
