Christmas Tree Collection 2021

Date: 15th Nov 2020 Author: Nigel Harris

Our main annual fundraising event is confirmed to go ahead again this year.   Come rain or shine, on the weekend of January 9th-10th 2021 we will be collecting Christmas trees from streets all around the local region to take them off for recycling.  We’ll be asking every family in the group to help in one way or another.  As well as driving, navigating and lugging trees, parents can help by arranging publicity, distributing leaflets, displaying posters or helping with administration.

If you’d like your Christmas tree to be collected, in return for a donation of £6.50 to the Scout Group, sign up today at collectmytree.org.uk.

UPDATE: we were planning to go ahead with the collection under Tier 4 restrictions, and had fully planned to do it in a way that involved no mixing of households and stringent safety measures.  But with the introduction of a third lockdown and a very firm do not leave your home message, we have abandoned the collection for this year.  We will be contacting everyone who ordered and paid for tree collections to offer refunds if requested.

HM King Charles III has been confirmed as our new Patron, a great honour for UK Scouts.

The King continues a long tradition of the monarch giving their Patronage, dating back to 1912. This was when Scouts was granted its Royal Charter and HM George V became our first Patron.
