AGM Wednesday 20th July at 8pm

Date: 9th Jun 2022 Author: Nigel Harris

The group’s Annual General Meeting will be held on Wednesday 20th July at 8pm.  As we recently all enjoyed getting together for a fabulous 80th anniversary party, we’re going to make this year’s AGM a simple online meeting.  But it would still be great to see as many faces as possible on the evening of Wednesday 20th July.

The AGM is a chance to review the group’s accounts and annual report, and to elect and appoint executive committee members and officers.  But it is also a chance to hear some of the highlights from each of our sections – Beavers, Cubs, Scouts and Explorers – and to celebrate their successes over the past year.

The group is desperately short of executive committee members (who are also our charity trustees).  We need to find at least two or three individuals to join the exec. this summer.

Being on the exec is not a huge commitment – we meet only six times a year, and you can join the meetings either by Zoom or in person (with free drinks and snacks!).  There is a tiny bit of initial paperwork and a few short online training courses that Scouts require you to complete within the first few months.  And that’s it.

We also need one of our new exec members to be our secretary.  That really just means taking notes and writing up minutes from the meetings, plus reminding people when the meetings are.

Please put yourself forward for one of these roles if you can.  We’d be eternally grateful, and you’d feel good, knowing you’re doing your bit to help keep scouting going in our community.

If you can help, or know someone who can, please email chair@westongreenscouts.org.uk

HM King Charles III has been confirmed as our new Patron, a great honour for UK Scouts.

The King continues a long tradition of the monarch giving their Patronage, dating back to 1912. This was when Scouts was granted its Royal Charter and HM George V became our first Patron.
