Scout Summer Camp 2022

Date: 24th Jul 2022 Author: Nigel Harris

A small group of scouts, and three of our brilliant adult volunteer leaders headed off on Saturday to East Sussex for this year’s summer scout camp.  They’ll be there for six nights.  Several scout dads will be joining the camp for a day or two during the week to help out.

True to scouting tradition, we expect our scouts to be self-reliant.  They put up their own tents (all that practice on the common was useful, after all!) and will be doing their own cooking and washing up.  Activities during this action-packed week, in addition to cooking burgers, pancakes, wraps, fajitas, barbecue, etc. included

  • Archery
  • “Ready, Steady Cook!” contest
  • Climbing wall
  • Go karts
  • Bivouac building
  • Low ropes
  • High ropes and “leap of faith”
  • Hiking
  • Movie night
  • Axe throwing
  • Abseiling
  • Museum visit
  • Visit to the seaside
  • Orienteering
  • Zip line
  • Crate stacking

They’ve been taking lots of photos, so take a look at the gallery to see what they’ve been up to!

HM King Charles III has been confirmed as our new Patron, a great honour for UK Scouts.

The King continues a long tradition of the monarch giving their Patronage, dating back to 1912. This was when Scouts was granted its Royal Charter and HM George V became our first Patron.
