District Hike (Cubs)
March, 2021
Location:
Sections: Cub Scouts
An annual event in the Esher district calendar, this is a day hike of approximately 3-4 miles in length in the Surrey Hills near Dorking. The idea is to introduce Cubs to the basics of map reading and compass use, in a real rather than theoretical setting.
Packs from across the district are invited to enter any number of teams of four to eight cubs, each with at least two adults per team. Cubs should be capable of walking 3-4 miles. Adults should be proficient in map skills. Cubs will need scruff kit, good walking shoes, a small rucksack and a healthy packed lunch.
Our group usually enters several teams at this event, which is organised by some of our own 1st WG uniformed leaders.
