We are very please to announce that we have been shortlisted for  a community grant sponsored by Proctor & Gamble through the Surrey Advertiser.

Our request for the grant was for the funds to be able to buy the group it's own Archery equipment so that our Beavers, Cubs and Scouts could take part regularly in this sport.

There are regular competitions for Cubs, Scouts and adults to take part in and by having our own equipment we will be able to give our members the best possible opportunity to get involved.

We need you to place your vote for 1st Weston Green 'All Saints' Scout Group by voting for us on the special voting form to be found in the Elmbridge Edition of The Surrey Advertiser on the 9th July 2010.

  • 1st Prize    £3,000
  • 2nd Prize    £1,000
  • 3rd Prize    £750
Results to be announced at an event at P&G
on the 18th August 2010

Thames Boat Cruise

posted 11 Jun 2010 01:45 by Alan Nolan-Davies

This summer we are running an evening boat trip on the Thames on Thursday 1st July for all members of 1st Weston Green Scout Group and their families.

The boat trip will be on one of Parr’s tripping boats.

We will leave from the landing place by Hampton Court Station at 6 pm and enjoy a leisurely cruise down to Kingston Bridge and back, returning about an hour later.

There is a pay and display car park at Hampton Court Station which will cost £2 at that time of day.

We hope that parents and siblings will join us for this pleasant evening cruise to celebrate the end of another successful year of Scouting in Weston Green

It's time for us to celebrate another successful year of Scouting in Weston Green, our 67th in fact.

We are planning to celebrate the year with an evening of awards and recognition of the young people in the group.

Many will receive Challenge Awards and a few maybe a Chief Scouts Award.

We are hoping that the Mayor of Elmbridge will be able to join us at this event and see just how much fun we have scouting in Weston Green.

At this meeting we will also hold our AGM and elect the members of the Scout Group Executive Committee.

We are collecting Active Kids tokens from Sainsburys to get the Group a new First Aid Kit

We're participating in Sainsbury's Active Kids 2010. This presents a fantastic opportunity to collect vouchers for a range of additional equipment and experiences that gives our children the opportunity to learn new skills.

This is our first year collecting, and we want to take full advantage of Active Kids and hope we can count on your support!

You can collect Active Kids vouchers from Sainsbury's between 17 February and 8 June. You'll receive one voucher for every £10 spent at any main Sainsbury's store or £5 spent in Sainsbury's Locals. Vouchers can be collected at petrol stations too and when you shop for groceries online.  Nectar points can also be converted into vouchers – visit nectar.com for details.

This year, we're aiming to collect 750 vouchers to get a new First Aid Kit.

So please remember to collect your vouchers and donate them to us and help spread the word to friends, colleagues and neighbours that we're collecting!  Every voucher is greatly appreciated, and with your help we're looking forward to a great year.

750 vouchers

Shelterbox respond instantly to natural and manmade disasters by delivering boxes of aid to those who are most in need.

Each box supplies an extended family of up to 10 people with a tent and essential equipment to use while they are displaced or homeless.

They have a partnership with the Scout Association and have developed a programme of activities for Beavers, Cubs, Scouts and Explorers to find out about their work and earn their Global Challenge Awards.
